To travel quietly, follow these tips

Timetables in different sectors:

Covid19 Notice: Enjoy Barcelona safely for yourself and for others! Before traveling and once you arrive in the city, find out about the regulations in force at all times. Keep in mind that many activities and services, as well as the usual timetables that we explain below, may be affected by restrictions.

In Barcelona shop opening hours are long. Shops normally open from Monday to Saturday at 10 am and close between 8 pm and 9 pm. Most shops close on Sundays, except for shops in the tourist area which open from 12 noon to 8 pm between the 5th and 24th of May and between 1st and 14th of October, both inclusive.

Regarding meals, lunch is usually between 1 pm and 4 pm and dinner is between 8 pm and 11 pm, with a first, second course and dessert. Locals usually have a light snack at around 5 pm or 6 pm, if they get hungry.

At weekends nightlife begins late.Activity in party venues and nightclubs peaks at about 2 am in the morning.

Dress code advice:

Barcelona is a cosmopolitan city with many influences from all over Europe and with a lot of interest in design. Seasons and the weather play an important role in colours and trends. In general terms, modern and comfortable dressing prevails. You won´t see people dressed up unless it is for a very special occasion.

Like in other cities, there are cultural and leisure venues, restaurants and shops that prohibit entry or urge customers to dress to minimum standards. The city is quite humid so people usually choose natural and fresh fabric such as cotton, linen and silk. In summer, we recommend pale coloured garments, Mediterranean shades that turn darker in the winter.

Looking ahead to Spring, make sure you don´t forget a jacket and an umbrella!

Advice when travelling with children

Barcelona welcomes children to eat, live and play wherever they want! Its stimulating museums, parks to explore and post-modern architecture make the city a comfortable and fun family destination to discover with little ones.

Children aged 4 and under travel free on public transport and do not pay for many cultural facilities as well as for tourist transport services such as the Barcelona Tourist Bus and the Montjuic Cable Car.

The city has an amusement park located on the Tibidabo mountain in the Collserola mountain range; a magical place for an unforgettable day.

Do not miss out on the routes we suggest if travelling with your family!

Regulations regarding pets

To bring your pet to Spain, it has to comply with specific conditions and have official health documents. Once in the city, you need to know that municipal rules establish that dogs must be on a leash, unless they are taken to specific installations and areas for them to play and socialise.

Please also note that many restaurants and accommodation facilities do not allow the entry of pets. Some dogs and domestic animals can travel on the metro and the bus without limitations, if the regulations are respected.
