Terms of Use for Hola Barcelona Travel Card Tickets

General Information

We remind you how to use the Hola Barcelona Travel Card correctly.

What does it include?

Unlimited travel on metro, bus (TMB and Nit Bus services), railway (FGC), Montjuïc funicular, tram (TRAM), and suburban trains (Rodalies de Catalunya).

Validation within these transport modes is limited to zone 1 of each operator.

This includes: Badalona, Barcelona, Castelldefels, Cornellà de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat, Gavà, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Montcada i Reixac, Montgat, El Prat de Llobregat, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, Sant Just Desvern, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and Viladecans.

The card includes one round-trip metro journey from the airport.

Does not include: Montjuïc cable car.

How it works?

  • There are four types of Hola Barcelona Travel Card tickets based on duration:
    • 24 hours: consecutive from the first validation.
    • 48 hours: consecutive from the first validation.
    • 72 hours: consecutive from the first validation.
    • 96 hours: consecutive from the first validation.
    • 120 hours: consecutive from the first validation.
  • These tickets are loaded onto a contactless transport card. The specific conditions of this card are detailed later in the “Supports / Hola Barcelona Travel Card” section.
  • You can start using your Hola Barcelona Travel Card at any time of the day and enjoy unlimited travel for 24, 48, 72, 96, or 120 hours, depending on the ticket purchased.
  • The Hola Barcelona Travel Card is personal. This means it cannot be used simultaneously by more than one person, but it can be used at different times. For example, you use it in the morning and another person can use it in the afternoon if you lend it to them.
  • To use it, you just need to validate the ticket each time you board a transport. Keep it in good condition.
  • Children under four years old are exempt from needing a transport ticket.
  • Ensure that the ticket is correct for your personal characteristics and valid for the zones you want to travel to.
  • To help you identify if the ticket has been correctly validated, bus validators show a green light and emit a soft sound. In contrast, a red light and a loud sound are triggered when the ticket has not been validated. In the metro, the validators will not allow access if there has been a validation error.
  • If your pass is not working due to a malfunction of the validators or the card support, contact the bus and metro staff. Cards damaged for other reasons are not eligible for exchange or compensation.
  • You must keep the validated ticket in good condition until the end of the journey. You cannot throw it away before leaving the facilities, as you will need to show it if requested by the staff. Also, remember that it is a rechargeable card.

Expiry

  • Hola Barcelona tickets expire on February 28 of the year following the purchase.
  • Vouchers purchased from the Hola Barcelona website or app are valid for 180 days. After this period, the voucher will expire.

Maximum Time of Stay in the Metro and Bus

  • In the metro, your ticket or pass is valid for the two hours following validation.
  • On the bus, one validation allows you to travel to the end of the line in the selected direction (except for the Bus del Barri lines and other circular lines, where you can complete the entire route).

Requesting Invoices

I. How to get simplified invoices

The metro ticket vending machines issue a simplified invoice for each purchase. Complete invoices can be requested based on these simplified invoices. For purchases made through the website or app, you can download the simplified invoice if you made the purchase from a registered user account.

II. How to get complete invoices

For purchases made at metro vending machines, you can go to a TMB Point with a prior appointment. You must provide your tax details (name, ID/NIE/NIF/CIF, and fiscal address) and provide the products to be invoiced, as well as the simplified invoice if you do not have the product. For purchases made through the Hola Barcelona website or app, you can also request the complete invoice from the same platform.

Request for Exchange

You can request an exchange of your ticket or pass if, despite being well maintained, the metro or bus validators cannot read the card. In this case, you should hand over your card and receive a new one with the same characteristics. You can request the exchange from metro or TMB Points staff when you detect the malfunction.

Refund Policy

Vouchers purchased from the Hola Barcelona website or app can be returned up to 180 days after the purchase date. Once the voucher has been redeemed, the card cannot be returned. If you purchased your tickets from metro vending machines, TMB Points, or Hola Barcelona Store, you can go to a TMB Point to manage the return with the transport title you want to return and the purchase receipt. The return will only be accepted if the customer has not used the title, and only the price of the title will be refunded, not the support, which is non-refundable.
